Trio Azura Praised by Washington Classical Review Following D.C. Debut

Following Trio Azura’s Washington, D.C. debut at The Phillips Collection, Washington Classical Review praised the ensemble’s performance, calling Trio Azura “clearly a young chamber ensemble to watch.”


Reviewing a program of Ravel, Jennifer Higdon, and Mendelssohn, the publication highlighted the trio’s “power of understatement” in Ravel, as well as its “quicksilver agility” and keen attention to the music’s shifting rhythmic pulse.


In Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 2, the reviewer described the performance as “magnetic” and “searching,” noting that the trio brought the work to a “triumphant close.”
